The wallpaper on this site is created at the resolutions of 1920 x 1200, 1600 x 1200, 1024 x 768, Apple 3G iPhone, Apple iPod Touch, Sony PSP, Apple iPod Classic, Microsoft Zune & Creative Zen.

The Free Gallery 1024 x 768 image will not completely fill a monitor that is set to a resolution higher than 1024 x 768. For higher resolution images, consider becoming a site member by subscribing to the Premium Vault. The Premium Vault contains hundreds of high quality images for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod Classic, Zen, Zune, PSP & PC.

Use the following guide for choosing which wallpaper image to use as your desktop.

Widescreen:
Use the 1920 x 1200 image for widescreen monitors set at 1920 x 1200, 1680 x 1050,
1440 x 900 and 1280 x 800.

Fullscreen:
Use the 1600 x 1200 image for fullscreen monitors set at 1600 x 1200, 1400 x 1050 and
1280 x 960.

Fullscreen 1024 x 768:
Use the 1024 x 768 image.

If your PC monitor is set at 1920 x 1200, 1600 x 1200 or 1024 x 768 then choose the resolution that matches your monitor.

1024 x 768

If your monitor is set at a fullscreen resolution of 1024 x 768, then choose the wallpaper image of 1024 x 768 to set as your desktop. Select 'Center' in the Display Properties tab of your Control Panel. This will centre the wallpaper on your desktop.

1280 x 800

If your monitor is set at a widescreen resolution of 1280 x 800, then choose the wallpaper image of 1920 x 1200 to set as your desktop. Select 'Stretch' in the Display Properties tab of your Control Panel. This will shrink the wallpaper to fit your monitor correctly. See the Control Panel paragraph below for more detailed instructions on how to do this.

1440 x 900

If your monitor is set at a widescreen resolution of 1440 x 900, then choose the wallpaper image of 1920 x 1200 to set as your desktop. Again, select 'Stretch' in the Display Properties tab of your Control Panel.

1680 x 1050

If your monitor is set at a widescreen resolution of 1680 x 1050, then choose the wallpaper image of 1920 x 1200 to set as your desktop. Select 'Stretch' in the Display Properties tab of your Control Panel.

1920 x 1200

If your monitor is set at a widescreen resolution of 1920 x 1200, then choose the wallpaper image of 1920 x 1200 to set as your desktop. Select 'Center' in the Display Properties tab of your Control Panel.

1280 x 960

If your monitor is set at a fullscreen resolution of 1280 x 960, then choose the wallpaper image of 1600 x 1200 to set as your desktop. Select 'Stretch' in the Display Properties tab of your Control Panel. This will shrink the wallpaper to fit your monitor correctly.

1400 x 1050

If your monitor is set at a fullscreen resolution of 1400 x 1050, then choose the wallpaper image of 1600 x 1200 to set as your desktop. Select 'Stretch' in the Display Properties tab of your Control Panel.

1600 x 1200

If your monitor is set at a fullscreen resolution of 1600 x 1200, then choose the wallpaper image of 1600 x 1200 to set as your desktop. Select 'Center' in the Display Properties tab of your Control Panel.

Control Panel

To set your wallpaper image as your desktop: Click Start at the bottom left side of your monitor. Then click on Control Panel. Click on Appearance and Themes. Click Change the Desktop Background and the Display Properties window will come up. The Desktop tab should already be selected. If you are under one of the other tabs then click on the Desktop tab to select it. The image should already be selected as your wallpaper. It will be displayed as a little image on a monitor under the Desktop tab. If it is not selected, then browse to the folder on your computer's hard drive where you saved the wallpaper image. Select the image. Under the Position pulldown menu select Stretch (or Center). When you're finished, click Apply and then OK.

Monitors of Unusual Proportions

If your monitor is of an unusual proportion or is set at a resolution that is different in proportion from the standard fullscreen and widescreen versions then I suggest that you choose the wallpaper image that most closely matches the resolution of your monitor. Choose the image that is slightly smaller than your monitor's resolution and one which will comfortably fit on your monitor. Select 'Center' in the Display Properties tab of your Control Panel. If you select 'Stretch' for a wallpaper image that is not the same proportion as your monitor, then you will get distortion & while sometimes this effect is interesting it's not what we're aiming for here. ;-)

Choose the Bigger Image

It's better to choose a slightly bigger image and shrink it to fit your monitor than choose a slightly smaller image and blow it up. A slightly bigger image of the exact same proportion as your monitor will shrink accurately to fit the screen. While a slightly smaller image of the same proportion will lose some detail and look pixelated if you expand it to fit the screen.

Matching Wallpaper Images to your Monitor's Resolution

The wallpaper images contained in the Premium Vault on this site should suit the vast majority of monitor resolutions. By following the information in the above article you should get a great result on your desktop. Thanks for visiting this site.
